“I’ve found the one!” – Just kidding! 😀
To be engaged in your environment is a powerful feeling. To feel you are a part of something, to be included and supported and empowered.
That is my definition anyways.
I recently spent 2 days in a thoroughly engaging environment- and now I’m going to tell you all about it!
A Day, or Two in the Life:
Morning: spent at the CMHA front desk welcoming clients, sorting mail and preparing information packages.
You know that feeling when you are just 100% absorbed in your work and enjoying every minute of it? Plus, you know you are making a difference and that your efforts are appreciated? It’s an amazing feeling! 😀
Afternoon: lunch and relaxation. Getting ready for the CMHA fundraiser to be held that evening.
I was on a roll! Lunch was scrumptious, though I can’t recall what it was. Then I lay on my yoga mat on the floor and read my book for a bit before getting dressed for a night out 🙂
Evening: attending CMHA fundraiser “That’s Just Crazy Talk” with Victoria Maxwell.
Got a lift with my wonderful coworkers to the Kay Meek Center. Arrived to see everyone looking their best, with lots of fun food, live music and some amazing items up for grabs at the silent auction.
The play, “That’s Just Crazy Talk”, written and performed by Victoria Maxwell was exceptional. Victoria told her story of life, love and mental illness with a truly refreshing combination of honesty, artistry and humor.
Later: Mom comes to visit, and stays the night.
Late breakfast out with Mom. I had the following all to myself: 3 pancakes, 3 sausages, 2 eggs and hash browns- with butter and syrup… TO DIE FOR!
Afterwards, Mom and I went shopping for food, clothes and shoes; it was a very successful outing, with several great finds!
We then went to pick up Dad from the ferry (coming in to town for a dinner party). Stopped by Moores, and while Mom and Dad hunted for the perfect shirt and tie combo, I sat down with a drink in the comfy chair, to watch the hockey game that just happened to be playing!
And that, my friends, is that! 😀
